1.Write all your dreams down. All of them.
To have lucid dreams, you need to remember your dreams. Dream journaling serves as a foundational step for lucid dreaming. Record them as soon as you wake up before you even get out of bed. Documenting your dreams not only enhances dream recall but also helps identify recurring themes, patterns, and dream signs that will help you become lucid.
2.Dream awareness begins with waking life awareness
Do you live on autopilot? How lucid are you during your daily life? How often do you stop for a moment to be mindful and really take in your surroundings? Look around and appreciate life for a second and become lucid during the day. The more you do this, the more likely you are to become lucid in a dream. One great way to increase mindful awareness is reality checks (RC) or critical state tests (CST). Regularly questioning reality through reality checks helps condition your mind to question the nature of your experiences, bridging the gap between wakefulness and the dream state.
3.Be prepared to lucid dream
Have a dream plan. Crafting a dream plan entails setting intentions and goals for your dream experiences. By visualizing specific scenarios or objectives before sleep, you prime your mind for conscious engagement within the dream world. For inspiration of what to do in a lucid dream, here is The Ultimate List of Things to do in a Lucid Dream.
4.Commitment is key.
This is about building your dream work practice and finding what works for you. Experiment with different lucid dreaming techniques over a long period of time. Fall in love with all your dreams, not just lucid ones- This is a lifelong journey.
5.Get enough sleep. Try to get enough REM sleep, and prime your bedroom for a comfortable, peaceful rest.
Lucid dreaming experiences can vary greatly from person to person. Some may find it easy to control their dreams, while others may struggle. The content and clarity of lucid dreams can also differ widely among individuals. Experiment for yourself and have fun! Everyone is capable of lucid dreaming. It is a learnable skill that improves with practice.
You can’t expect to have a six-pack after 1 week of rushing through the gym. Same thing with lucid dreaming.
