Today is a bit of a somber message. While all of social media is abuzz with 2024 goals, new year’s resolutions and people bragging about their accomplishments in 2023, you’re still struggling just to exist…
I see you <3
But listen to me when I tell you TRUTHFULLY:
You are valuable
You are important
You are enough
You are lovable
Your mind is not against you, it’s just misunderstood. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, stress, nightmares or insomnia, your mind is not trying to be an ass hole, it’s just trying it’s best to help you make it through. So let’s talk about why your dreams are so bad and what you can do about them:

Why do my dreams suck?!?! 😭

When you have nightmares, your mind is trying to keep you safe. It does this in two ways.
First, it is trying to replay past trauma or future fears so that if a situation like that ever happens, your mind will be ready to act! It’s looking for solutions and new escape plans to keep you safe. This is the foundation of why we have PTSD nightmares. It’s also why parents will dream of bad things happening to their children or why you will dream about your partner cheating on you or leaving you. By highlighting your subconscious fears, your mind is trying to prepare for the worst. But… sometimes those fears never get better and become stuck on repeat in your mind causing chronic nightmares.
Second, life is full of stress and pressure. This causes us to push down our true feelings and focus on the chaos that’s in front of us. We call this repression. When you’re nervous about that conversation you know is happening later in the week, you have no time to think about how you are feeling in the moment. When you finally shut down your mind and go to sleep, all those repressed feelings come flooding to the surface. By dreaming about your repressed feelings, your mind is actually releasing that emotional energy and trying to purge your system of those feelings so you can be clear and fresh for the next day. But if we are constantly ignoring our feelings, those negative emotions can cause chronic nightmares as well.
Please, if these situations are happening to you, seek a local and licensed counselor to guide you through them! No one can heal themselves, we need relationships. Even as a professional myself, I have a counselor I talk to and who helps me process my feelings.

How do I get better?? ❤️🩹

Inside of you lives an eight year old who just wants to be loved and protected. When you sleep, that little child whispers to you, telling you of their deepest fears and insecurities. That eight year old just wants to feel protected, loved and understood. But every morning you become frustrated with that child inside of you and tell it to shut up…
What if instead of being upset with that little child, you listened? What if you heard their fears and took steps to keep them safe? Your dreams will get better! You would feel loved. You would feel valuable and you would build confidence and assertiveness that all of your morning affirmations have failed to build.
Through dream interpretation, we make the subconscious mind conscious and this brings balance and unity to our mind. Listen to your dreams. They are the voice of your inner child crying for love and attention. When that little child feels heard, it doesn’t have to cry so loud and the nightmares stop. That little child deserves to be heard and protected. So do you.
